Baptist Church of Maraland established in Mizoram PDF Print E-mail

A reliable source said the people of Laki village in Saiha district in SaihaSouthern part of Mizoram have left Evangelical Church of Maraland (ECM) en-mass this week to establish a new Church under the banner of ‘Baptist Church of Maraland’ (BAM), according to Maraland.net.

Laki is an Indo-Myanmar border village under Tuipang Sub-Division in Saiha district of Mizoram, Northeast India. There are around 161 households with 483 electoral votes according to Mizoram state Election Commissioner’s website. Apart from them, Laki people who have settled in other places have also supported the new Church. A more visible face includes a theologian, Dr. John Hamlet Hlychho. According to Maraland.net, it is not yet known whether more local churches of BAM will come up in other parts of Saiha district or not. More update is awaited.
